Is your computer sluggish? Is every window you attempt to open or close taking it's sweet time? Should you be packing a lunch before attempting to turn your computer on or off? Maybe you keep seeing those annoying error messages.

I know exactly how that can feel. I have dealt with the annoyance of a sluggish, slow PC before.

Thankfully, I know enough now about computers that I am able to keep mine running in top form. Unfortunately, it takes most a long time to learn about all the deep secrets of PCs and it can be very frustrating when you don't know how to repair the problems.

Thankfully, there are some programs out there that can help a lot when keeping your computer in shape. Registry Easy is one such program.

Registry Easy Review

After downloading Registry Easy and installing, I ran a quick registry scan of my PC. The registry scan took 1 minute and 45 seconds, and what it found was quite remarkable to say the least. 1870 registry problems. Now, I know it had been quite some time since I last tended to my registry, but holy cow!

Registry Easy was very simple to use, only a couple clicks of a button to scan and see results.

Following are my personal results as I scanned my computer and fixed registry errors that Registry Easy had found.

Step 1: Click on the menu in the upper left under "Scan & Clean".

Step 2: 1 minute and 45 seconds later, Registry Easy had found 1870 registry errors. With a simple click of the "Repair" button in the lower right, all the registry errors are repaired.

Registry Easy also has several other helpful options, like the Evidence Cleaner, which cleans up all internet cache files, cookies, recent files and some other files. My scan found 12390 files totaling 164 MB.

Another feature of Registry Easy is the Junk File Cleaner. A quick scan of my PC found 693 items totaling almost 400 MB! You can double click on the drive that was scanned to open a detailed screen showing each file (shown below).

Registry Easy also has an easy registry backup function, as well as a simple "create a restore point" button.

Finally, Registry Easy has some extra system utilities like the "System Optimizer", "Error Fixer" and the "Tweak Memory" functions to squeeze the last drops of performance from your PC.

Registry Easy has been around for quite some time, so make sure to click on the link below to download the latest version, Registry Easy 4.7. Some of the previous versions are Registry Easy 3.0, Registry Easy 4, and Registry Easy 4.2.

Final Verdict - 5/5 stars

After installing and using Registry Easy for several weeks, I can honestly say I will probably never get rid of this program. It has increased the speed of my PC, made it more responsive, and increased the amount of disk space and memory available.

I have not had any problems with this software.

There is also a great function I use that schedules regular scans and fixes according to a schedule that you decide. Since I don't usually turn my PC off all the way, I have it set to scan every Monday at 2AM.

Windows Registry Errors

Windows uses the registry files to keep track of computer settings, and all programs installed on the PC. Windows constantly needs to access these registry files while the computer is running, and more so when other programs are running or being accessed.

Over time, as programs are installed and uninstalled, files are moved, deleted and changed, the registry becomes overgrown. Many of the registry files may not be valid anymore, may be empty, or may end up pointing to incorrect locations. The files and programs they are associated with may not even exist any longer, but Windows still has to dig through all of these files each time an action is performed. This causes the PC to run slowly, and to not respond well to requests from the user, even simple ones like opening a file, or minimizing a window.

Editing the registry can be risky and difficult, as there are usually thousands of files, and some of the settings may look like strange alien writing, therefore, making it hard for average users to know how to fix registry errors. What makes this even worse, is that by incorrectly editing or deleting some of these registry files, the operating system may become completely unusable or nearly unusable. The only way to proceed after that has happened is usually to reinstall the operating system or restore a backup registry file.

Thankfully, there are many registry repair programs available that will not only backup the registry, but will scan and fix any errors found within the registry. This typically includes empty registry values, registry keys pointing to programs no longer installed, and several other types of errors.

A good registry repair software program should include the following:

  • Pushbutton scan registry

  • Pushbutton fix registry

  • Pushbutton backup registry

  • Automatic scan scheduling function
